Linda Schotthoefer is Senior Director of Community Initiatives at United Way of Miami-Dade. Responsible for the organization’s Health Impact Area, she manages an annual grant-making portfolio of $3.2 million. She leads grant initiatives, partnership development, and advocacy efforts focused on three primary health objectives: access to care, healthy lifestyles, and healthy older adults.
In the area of aging, Linda directs United Way’s collaborative leadership contribution to the Miami-Dade Age-Friendly Initiative, facilitates the Older Adult Advocacy Taskforce, and convenes the ad hoc working group for older adults and disaster planning. She is a member of the Aging Advisory Committee for United Way Worldwide and a Reframing Aging master trainer. She was recently invited to serve on the Advisory Board for the Sustaining the Reframing Aging Initiative.
Other key initiatives Linda directs at United Way are the mental health capacity-building partnership with NAMI Miami-Dade, the MAVEN Project pilot for telehealth solutions for community clinics, and the Golden Wishes project that raises awareness and grants life-long wishes for older adults. Linda oversees the Familywize prescription discount program in Miami-Dade County, which will soon celebrate its 10-year milestone of achieving $15 million in cost-savings for local families.
Linda owes her love of training, curriculum, and leadership development to her previous role as Executive Director of the Center On Nonprofit Effectiveness in Miami-Dade County where she led the Nonprofit Board Leadership Institute and other capacity-building initiatives.
