Cynthia Banks

American Society on Aging


Cynthia Banks is the Interim President and CEO for the American Society on Aging (ASA). ASA's vision is "Optimal quality of life for Older Adults." Ms. Banks served as the Director of Los Angeles County's Workforce Development, Aging, and Community Services from 2006 through January 2019. In the role of Director, she oversaw a multitude of safety-net programs for LA County's residents, including: Adult Protective Services, the local Area Agency on Aging, Human Relations programs, and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs. Cynthia's department provided support for the Commission for Older Adults, Workforce Development Board, Native American Indian Commission, and the Human Relations Commission. With an extensive national and local Board experience, she also received commendations from the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors for advancing the Purposeful Aging Los Angeles (PALA) and Bringing Our Loved Ones Home (BOLOH) initiatives.
